100 Years of Tennis Excellence
The Tamil Nadu Tennis Association is a 100-year old institution which promotes and administers the game of Tennis in Tamil Nadu. TNTA is recognised as the official body for the game of Tennis in the state by the Tamil Nadu Government, the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Olympic Association and the All India Tennis Association.
TNTA was associated with the conduct of the only ATP 250 event held in South East Asia for two decades. Besides, TNTA runs its own Coaching Centres and conducts premier tennis tournaments for various categories and levels annually over decades – ATP Challengers, National Ul8 Claycourt championships, 2 ITF Junior events, AITA and State Ranking events for Men and Women, Seniors, Wheelchair and a popular Local League.

Founded by Billie Jean King in 1973 on the principle of equal opportunity, the WTA is the global leader in women's professional sports. The WTA is one of the world's most recognizable and high-profile sports organizations, consisting of more than 1600 players representing approximately 87 nations, all competing to earn WTA rankings points and prestigious tournament titles.
The Hologic WTA Tour annually comprised around 50 events and four Grand Slams, spanning six continents and nearly 30 countries and regions with a global audience of over 900 million.
Chennai Open WTA 250
International Women's Tennis Tournament
The Chennai Open WTA 250 International Women's Tennis Tournament was held for the first time ever in Tamil Nadu at the SDAT Tennis Stadium in Nungambakkam, Chennai 2022.
The list of participating players of the Chennai Open WTA 250 included Alison Riske Amritraj of USA, the top seed ranked 29th in the world, Varvara Andreyevna Gracheva of Russia, Magda Linette of Poland, Rebecca Peterson of Sweden, Tatjana Mariateh of Germany, Linda Fruhvirtova of Czech of Republic and the top Indians Ankita Raina and Karman Kaur Thandi. Thus ensuring a highly competitive tournament and the public of Chennai witnessed an enthralling week of top women's tennis.
TNTA wholeheartedly appreciates and thanks the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu for their strong support and encouragement. This tournament called the "Chennai Open WTA 250 International Women's Tennis Championship 2022" was viewed world over as it was televised internationally by many channels and in India by Sony TV, showcased Chennai and Tamil Nadu as a major hub for Industry, Commerce, Medicines and Sport.
